Neal Bartlett grew up in Simi Valley, California, and he received a B.S., with honors, from California Lutheran University where he studied Business Administration and Finance. Neal worked in the banking and mortgage industry for more than twelve years and, ultimately, served as the Vice President for Remittance Processing at a Fortune 500 mortgage company.
Neal received his J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law where he was on the editorial board of the Oregon Law Review. During law school he clerked for the Hon. Charles D. Carlson in Lane County Circuit Court and also served as a student prosecutor for the Douglas County District Attorney’s office. In 2009, Neal was admitted to the California State Bar and opened his own practice in Carpinteria, where his extended family has lived since 1938.
In 2016, Neal was certified by the California State Bar, Board of Legal Specialization, as a Specialist in Estate Planning, Trusts, and Probate. His practice is devoted to helping families navigate all facets of the estate planning and administration process. He is accredited by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs and regularly assists eligible veterans and their widows obtain benefits available to help pay for care and support expenses. Neal currently serves on the Board of Directors for several local non-profits, struggles with his golf game, travels, and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
Stefanie Herrington assists clients with estate planning, probate, and trust administration matters. Stefanie is a charter member of the Rotary Club of Carpinteria Sunset and currently serves as president of the board of trustees of Girls Inc. of Carpinteria. Stefanie received her B.A. from the University of Colorado at Boulder and was a copy editor for the Boulder Daily Camera newspaper.
Stefanie received her J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Oregon Law Review. During law school, Stefanie worked for business and litigation law firms, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon. Prior to establishing Bartlett & Herrington, P.C. in Carpinteria, Stefanie clerked for the Hon. Daniel M. Taubman at the Colorado Court of Appeals and practiced complex business litigation in Portland. Stefanie was admitted to the California State Bar in 2011.
Jason Smith is a paralegal at Bartlett & Herrington, P.C. and assists clients with estate planning, probate, and trust administration matters. Jason works closely with clients to help them navigate the process of administering and completing an estate. He has also attended CLE courses on helping clients obtain Veterans Benefits and assists with veterans planning. Jason attended Chico State University and has a B.S. in paralegal studies. He received a paralegal certificate from Oxnard College. Before joining Bartlett & Herrington, P.C., Jason was a paralegal for a worker’s compensation law firm.
Jason enjoys hiking, movies, and spending time with his family and friends.
