The City of San Buenaventura, or more popularly known as Ventura, is the capital of Ventura County, California. The city is located at the northwest portion of Los Angeles on the California coast and lies along U.S. Route 101 between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. According to a 2013 census, Ventura is populated by a number of 108,817 residents. The city enjoys a Mediterranean climate as typical as the rest of coastal California cities. Surfer’s Point, located near the Ventura County Fairgrounds, is a famous surfing spot with its quality of onshore conditions. The Ventura County Fairgrounds is also home to the Ventura Raceway, known to be the ‘best little dirt track in America,’ and host to various concerts such as the Vans Warped Tour. The city also has four major college campuses such as the Ventura College of Law, Santa Barbara Business College, Southern California Institute of Law, and Ventura College. The popular clothing brand Patagonia’s headquarters is also located in downtown Ventura. Also notable for its Spanish-style architectures, Ventura is famous for its abundance of museums, galleries and establishments such as the Mission San Buenaventura, Albinger Archaeological Museum, Olivas Adobe, and the Channel Islands National Park Headquarters and Visitors Center.
